Happy 4th of July

Celebrate America’s birth and independence with lots of fireworks, parades and fun in the Chicago Southland. Check out some of the great opportunities for patriotic festivities this 4th of July!
Participate in the Veterans Liberty Run on July 1 at Centennial Park in Orland Park beginning at 7PM. Register in advance to receive a dry-fit shirt, an American flag, a one-day pass to the Centennial Park Aquatic Center and a raffle ticket. There will be onsite registration available starting at 5:30PM. Also at Centennial Park on July 1, enjoy the Independence Day Fireworks. With a concert at 7:15PM and fireworks beginning at 9:30PM, you won’t want to miss this fun night.
Evergreen Park will be holding their Independence Day Parade on July 1, beginning at 95th Street and Springfield Avenue at 6:30PM, and finishing with some fireworks at Duffy Park.
From July 1-4, head over to Firemen’s Park in Beecher for the Beecher 4th of July Celebration. Enjoy live music, raffles, a carnival, beer tent and bingo.
Lynwood will be hosting their Independence Day Parade starting at 12PM on July 3 at the Liberty Memorial Community Park.
Frankfort’s 4th of July Celebration will take place at Main Park from 5-9PM on July 4, featuring inflatables, kids’ games, balloon artists, a live band and more.
On July 4, enjoy the Flossmoor Fire Department 4th of July Parade in Downtown Flossmoor. Decorate your bike with 4th of July decorations and participate in the parade yourself! Line up will start at 9:30AM at the Parker Junior High School parking lot.
Homewood’s July 4th Parade will also take place on July 4 at 10AM, beginning at Ridge Road and Dixie Highway and ending at the Izaak Walton Preserve. There will be a quiet zone for children with sound sensitivity at the beginning of the route. Enjoy the clowns, stilt walkers, bands and decorated floats!
Mokena’s Chamber of Commerce Annual 4th of July Parade on July 4 takes place in Downtown Mokena at 10AM, starting at Wolf Road Between LaPorte Road and 192nd Street.
McCarthy Park in Tinley Park will be hosting a July 4th Celebration, beginning at 4PM with live music, games and food trucks, finishing off with a fireworks show at 9:15PM. McCarthy Park will also have a Stars and Stripes 5k on July 4 at 8AM.
South Holland will be holding their Kiddie Bike Parade on July 4, which kicks off their July 4th Celebration at Veterans Park. Children ages 2-12 are allowed to participate in the parade, and must have their bikes decorated with red, white and blue. The parade begins at 10AM at the Veterans Park War Memorial.
No matter how you choose to celebrate the 4th of July, be sure to stay safe.
